Springtime delights. When the first bulbous plants emerge from the still partly frozen ground in early spring, a smile comes to even the most winter-weary faces. Their small, cheerful-looking flowers bring with them a huge amount of joy and inspiration. Minna Niskakangas painted the Helmililja pattern using the traditional tempera technique, in which egg is used as a binding substance for the colours. This painting technique, familiar from icon painting, is characterised by a subtle translucency that creates extremely beautiful, delicate details. Minna composed a flowing, pastel-coloured floral pattern on both a dramatic dark grey and a sky blue base colour. With curtains, cushion covers and table setting textiles from the Helmililja collection, you can bring art home in the form of textiles.
