The imagination of Pentik founder Anu Pentik is boundless. Her latest display of creativity, by the artist who received the State Prize for Design in November, is a unique pack of ceramic dogs, each handcrafted and with its own personality, individual facial features and accessories. The Pentik Koira ceramic sculptures celebrate individuality and bring a smile to your face.
The new Pentik Studio collection began when Anu Pentik wanted to create ceramic animals that would bring joy to lovers of Finnish art. The idea went into production after in-depth consideration. Before the intensive production phase of the ceramic dogs, Anu Pentik went through all the magnificent, winged and horned animals living in the Posio region in her mind. Dogs of all kinds were chosen for the ceramic artist's work, as Anu Pentik wanted to highlight the close and profound relationship between dogs and humans.
All Pentik Koira ceramic sculptures were created by Anu Pentik's skilled hands during 2021. Dogs have been made this autumn both in Anu Pentik's home studio and at the Pentik factory. A group of unique ceramic dogs often travels with the early-bird artist from home to the factory for decoration and firing. At first, a few dogs were born every day, but the pace has accelerated, and now two high school students living in Posio are also helping to finish the dogs.
“Anu Pentik designed the Koira ceramic sculptures with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. We hope that this joy will be conveyed, and the dogs will find their way into loving families, bringing warmth and cheer, just as dogs do. These dogs are easy to care for and allergy-friendly. Through them, Finnish art can be brought into homes, and one's own personality can be highlighted in interior design. Everyone can decide for themselves whether the dog resembles its owner," says Pentik's Marketing Director Minna Lampinen.
