Anu Pentik Exhibition at Argoshalli 17.2.-3.3.2024

Anu Pentik's exhibition in Argoshalli 17.2.-3.3.2024

Decades of accumulated experience allow clay to yield into art in Anu Pentik's hands, through which beauty can spread around – this time in the form of a colorful, eternal flower meadow.

"Flowers symbolize growth, colors power. It is a comforting thought that just like in humans, natural materials also contain energy that continues its journey with the artworks."

Anu Pentik

Anu Pentik is an acclaimed artist and ceramic designer with a long career, for whom clay is a passion and a way of life. Anu's creative force originates from moments spent in the northern nature, where thoughts and creativity can wander freely and the power of nature penetrates deep. Anu believes that when one works a lot and keeps oneself in a continuous state of creation, intuition begins to guide the work, and beauty emerges almost by itself. Through her works, she wants to convey beauty and joy to the everyday lives of as many people as possible.

The story behind the works

The material for the wooden stems used in the ceramic works comes from hundreds-of-years-old logs found on the artist's estate in Timisjärvi, Posio. Anu Pentik carved the wood with a chainsaw, after which the forms of lived life were revealed from beneath the surface through soda blasting. Flowers have always been a strong presence in Anu's art, as there is something magical in new beginnings and the colors created by nature. No matter how bad the times, after the dark winter, light always triumphs, colors arrive, and flowers burst into bloom. In nature and in life, contrasts are needed to understand the power of light and colors.
