The Vase That Breaks the Ice.

The surprising design of the Railo vase provides a talking point. Designer Tuuli Saarelainen was inspired by cracks in ice and the raw contrasts of the northern nature. The result was the Railo vase, whose regularly geometric and deliberate shape is bisected by an organic, imperfect seam, breaking the otherwise smooth surface. Just like the surface of a frozen lake or sea.

The uniqueness of the Railo vases lies in the glazes we mix ourselves at the world's northernmost ceramic factory. The interesting drips on the products are created by splashing a second layer of glaze color over the base glaze. This makes each vase unique and reminiscent of our untamed and unpredictable nature.
