Pentik retains a firm grasp of its core values and in all our operations we observe the principles of sustainable development aimed at meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Pentik adheres to all relevant laws and regulations in all its operations.
Economic responsibility
At Pentik, we believe that steady growth forms the basis for a secure future and the continuity of our operations. By ensuring profitability, Pentik can also fulfil its social and environmental responsibilities.
We recognise that our work impacts on social and economic cohesion across generations. In 2003, Pentik was awarded the Finnish Ministry of Labour’s Good Employer Award. In its decision, the Ministry recognised the company’s continued development and growth and role as an employer. In 2007, Pentik was awarded the Company of the Year Award. The jury commented: “Pentik Oy, a Finnish design icon since the 1970s is a family business with a strong sense of history that has succeeded in combining sustainable development and profitable growth in the 21st century.”
Social Responsibility
As an employer, Pentik meets all legal requirements and aims to observe International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions in all our operations. For Pentik, social responsibility means looking after its staff. The company has a flat hierarchy and great emphasis is placed on staff training and motivation. Flexible working arrangements are available to help staff balance work and family life.
Social responsibility at Pentik is also seen in a wider context and Pentik continually strives to make a positive contribution to society, both globally and locally. Pentik aims to be a good corporate citizen as can be seen in our relationship with our clients and partners.
Environmental responsibility
Economic use of resources and observing environmental considerations in all our daily operations and decision-making are the guiding principles of the Pentik environment policy. Our approach is based on the life-cycle concept aimed at reducing the adverse environmental impacts arising throughout the life-cycle of both goods and services.
In accordance with the life-cycle concept, we utilise the waste heat that is the by-product from our kilns. Thanks to a sophisticated waste heat capture system, we are able to transfer all the captured energy back into the Posio district heating grid.
The recycling of packaging waste is carried out in accordance with the EU directive on packaging waste management and the Finnish Waste Act. The recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment is carried out in accordance with the EU WEEE directive. Pentik is also a member of SELT, a compliance scheme for the producers of lighting, heaters, surveillance and control equipment.
