The Pentik Gallery will open on Saturday 17 October at the Kymi Pavillion in Kuusankoski.
The new gallery is being opened on the premises of the Paper Art Gallery. “We want to continue cultural activities in the exhibition space,” Anu Pentik says. The gallery’s art exhibitions will change three times a year, and the first exhibition artist will be Anu Pentik.
The gallery’s exhibitions will focus on three-dimensional works in which ceramic can be used alongside other materials.
On the Banks of the River Kymijoki
Anu Pentik’s exhibition “On the Banks of the River Kymijoki” is open to the public between 17 October 2009 and 29 February 2010.
“I feel pride in returning to the scenery of my home. Childhood and the landscapes of childhood have been extremely important to me. My dreams and imagination have expanded when I’ve had to make my toys myself.”
It is from these powerful childhood memories that Anu Pentik designed the exhibition for the region of her birth on the banks of the River Kymijoki:
- A secret brushwood hut in the caves of Huuhkajanvuori
- The river carried the bark boats downstream leaving the plants and me on the bank.
- Crayfishing, the dill field, the colour of vermillion, the scent, the safe warmth of Eino and Martta...
