Thirty decades have seen the Pentik-mäki Centre in Posio evolve into a diverse cultural and shopping destination that counts among one of the most popular visitor attractions in Lapland. The Centre comprises museums, exhibitions, a café and a Pentik factory outlet store.
A project to expand the premises will now be brought underway in autumn 2008 and is due for completion in the course of 2009. With the expansion, new and improved services will be introduced – making the Centre into a truly unique and inspirational place where nature and art meet.
The museums, exhibitions and shop at the Culture Centre will remain open as usual during the expansion.
Truly unforgettable experiences
Pentik-mäki is a place where art, the region’s stunning scenery and the peace of the surrounding countryside combine to form a truly memorable attraction. “We want our visitors to feel that they have enjoyd a unique aesthetic experience here,” says Pentik founder and artist Anu Pentik.
As part of the expansion, a new exhibition space will be added to the Centre. The latest addition will be a gallery dedicated entirely to ceramic art, due for completion in 2009.
On 4 June 2008, the first Pentik mosaic sculpture will be unveiled at the Centre. The stunning 14-metre long piece is designed by Anu Pentik and Paula Suominen and was realised by art student Sonja Binberg.
