Museums and exhibitions

The Countryside Memories museum offers a glimpse into a time gone past. The collection compiled by Arvo Ampiala includes thousands of Finnish rural artefacts dating back to the period between the 18th century and World War II.

The International Coffee Cup Museum houses a collection of more than 2,000 coffee cups from over 80 countries. The items have been donated by companies and private individuals from around the world. The museum also displays a collection of items by the Kera Oy red clay factory (1917-1958).

The Pentik Home Museum was first established in 1973 as the home of Anu and Topi Pentikäinen. The company’s ceramics production, store and café all operated in the same premises that were the precursor to what has now become the Pentik Centre. The building was recently restored into its original state and now operates as a museum.

The Old Ceramics exhibition contains hundreds of 19th and 20th century artefacts. The majority of them are dishes, bowls, jugs and tankards made of red clay. This important collection has been brought together by Sinikka and Pentti Koivunen.

The Anu Pentik Gallery opened tis floors on Friday 12 June 2009.
The Gallery’s facade features a stunning, eight-metre high and twenty-metre wide ceramic installation. Created very much in the ethos of recycling, the piece makes use of scraps of ceramic broken during production. The pieces of well-known and well-loved Pentik designs used to create the mosaic finish reflect the company’s history throughout the years.
