    Our favourite moist date cake

    Date cake recipe
    175 g dates
    200 ml water
    200 g butter
    2 eggs
    150 ml sugar
    100 ml plain yogurt
    1 tsp vanilla sugar
    2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
    350 ml plain flour

    Start by chopping up the dates and simmer them in a small amount of water until soft. Add the butter and leave to melt. Next, whisk together the eggs and sugar. Mix together all the dry ingredients and fold into the egg and sugar mixture. Now add the dates. Season with madeira or cognac to taste and pour the mixture into a tin lined with butter and breadcrumbs. Bake in 175 degrees Celsius for approximately one hour.
